The EASTERN MAINE SNOWMOBILE CLUB is located on the Levenseller Road in Holden, Maine. We offer approximately 70 miles of well groomed and maintained snowmobile trails in the Holden, Eddington, Brewer and Bradley areas. Our trail system is a connector trail to Orrington and Bucksport as well as connecting to Milford and ITS 84.
The club was started as a dream in a South Brewer barbershop. In 1970 a few people decided to make the dream a reality and the dream was put in motion. Land was donated, money secured and the building process begun. The clubhouse was started in November 1970 and finished in February 1971 by a group of volunteers who worked through cold, snow, rain and a January thaw to get it done (photo left). In 1994 club member John Toppi presented the idea of an equipment building, which was added to hold the grooming equipment and sleds we use on our trails. That building was dedicated to him in April 1995. There is also plenty of parking available for people to unload trailers or for people traveling in by sled.
We still have some of the original members as club members today. We offer a business membership at $30 as well as family membership at $22 a year. This membership includes a monthly club newsletter as well as membership in the Maine Snowmobile Association. Club meetings are held the third Sunday of every month from September to April. They start with a club supper at 6:00pm, which has a minimal fee and then the monthly club business meeting starts at 7:00. Club members cook a club supper each month.
In season, from the first weekend in January to the last weekend in March the clubhouse in open for hot meals and a chance to warm up by a granite fireplace. During these months we are open on Friday nights from 6:00-9:00pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 noon-5:00pm.
In the off-season, from April 1 to Dec. 30th, the club is available for renting. Many wedding receptions, birthday parties and family outings have been held here since 1971. Contact Joanne Garrison at 207-299-8952 for information on renting the facility. The club can hold 150-200 people comfortably.
EMSC is a strong supporter of the Pine Tree Camp with proceeds from raffles and bottle collections going to them. Many activities happen throughout the season for club members to enjoy. A weekend trip is held each year to a destination agreed upon by the club members (photo right-Matagamon trip). We also have day trips and local rides, a Hunter's Breakfast, dances and trail safety checks.
For more information please contact the current club President at the club at P.O. Box 226, Brewer, ME 04412.
