January 2005 Club News
Hello everyone and welcome to 2005,
Mother Nature seems a little slow getting our season started, but this gives us
all the time to enjoy the Holidays and attend to all the little details
preparing for a safe riding season. Are you registered? Insured? Has you sled
been serviced? How about the lights and tires on your trailer?
Our kitchen is now open on Friday nights, but we are still trying to find a cook
for weekends. If you or anyone you know is interested in cooking, please contact
Marty at 989-3487.
Our next club meeting is this Sunday, January 16th; at 7pm. Judy Butler and Jan
Logan will be putting on a ham supper at 6pm, so come enjoy the meal and find
out what is new at the club.
Our trail crew has been working every Sunday since the first of October getting
our system ready for all to enjoy. Our entire trail has been gone over, but high
winds may have taken down trees after they were last checked, so be careful on
that first ride. Larry Lafland, Bob Heistand, Dick Crawford, Troy Grass and many
more have put in countless hours (I'm sure Larry knows how
many!) volunteering their time working with landowners, brushing, bridging and
signing, to make things passable and safe for everyone. Please take a minute to
thank the members of our trail crew for all they do for us. And don't
forget…there is always room for you on that crew, so do your part lend a hand!
Contact Larry (989-6472) or anyone on the crew to find out how.
About 50 people welcomed in 2005 at our annual New Year's Eve Dance.
Thanks to everyone that helped decorate and "DJ Dain" for keeping us rocking all
night long!
The MSA Supper Raffle was again a big success for our club. We finished 3rd in
the state for total ticket sales! This is a new record for our club!
Thank you "Super Lew" Tourtillotte and everyone that sold or bought tickets this
season.
Our fundraisers are planning the Spring Raffle and want ideas. Last year we did
a canoe, but some people wanted a kayak…what do you think? Please bring your
ideas to the next meeting or contact Jamie (989-6768) or Troy (843-6179).
We have been working with Brewer Walmart to put on, what we hope to be, an
annual charity ride on Feb. 12th. Volunteers are needed that day to help make
this happen. Please watch the Bangor Daily News, our website or contact Marty at
989-3487 for details.
Don't forget our club trip to The Four Seasons in Ashland Feb.18th &19th. Call
435-8255 to see if rooms are still available.
