Eastern Maine Snowmobilers, Inc.

January 2005 MSA Newsletter

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Holiday Season and thank you all for your Snow Dance. Riding had begun in Northern and Western Maine and is now working it’s way south and east. Please remember to take it easy the first ride or two until we have an adequate base on the trails and your riding skills are back up to par.

Looking back on our past calendar year we have had a great start to our season. Our club has held some new and exciting fundraisers including: a canoe raffle, a yard sale, and most recently a Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale. All of these events have been the result of our member’s volunteer efforts and have been spearheaded by our Treasurer, Jamie Madore. Jamie, along with our Fundraising Chair and Vice-President Troy Grass, have worked very hard to generate new income and bring our club back on an even financial keel after an abnormally quiet season in our area. And of course we can’t forget the MSA Super Raffle, with Chairman “Super Lew” Tourtillotte, and our annual Hunter’s Breakfast headed by Eileen Lafland, for once again making a positive impact on our club income. Thank you Jamie, Troy, Lew, Eileen and all our members that work so hard to support our club.

Speaking of volunteers, our trail crew has been meeting every Sunday morning in preparation for the season. Brushing and bridging has been done and signing is now complete. Our club also recently hosted an area meeting to help coordinate the trail efforts with our neighboring clubs, as well as sharing safety and MSA news & information. Thank you trail crews here and across the State for your continued efforts!

We would like to remind everyone that our clubhouse is now open Friday nights and Saturday & Sunday afternoons, with coffee and light lunches available. So stop in, enjoy the fire, and meet new friends. There are never any strangers at our club, just friends you haven’t met yet!

The Eastern Maine Snowmobilers meet the 3rd Sunday of the month at 7pm, following a 6pm supper, in our clubhouse at 263 Levenseller Rd, Holden. New faces are always welcome, so come join us! You can contact us at P.O. Box 226 Brewer, ME 04412, 989-2788, or on the website listed above.

Enjoy the ride and keep safe,

Jim
