January 2006 Club News
Hello Everyone,
And welcome to 2006! Even though we are still being teased in this area, the snowmobiling season is in full swing in the Northern and Western parts of our state. I have talked with quite a few of our members that have been out already and experienced good to excellent early season riding conditions.
We will be holding our January club meeting this Sunday (the 15th) at 7:00pm. The supper will be baked ham, mashed potatoes, veggies and a surprise dessert, served at 6:00pm. Be sure to stop by and catch up on what is new with your friends at the club.
Speaking of food, our clubhouse kitchen opened for the season on January 7th, and we now have a cook for the weekends. Bonnie Raymond from right here in Holden will be operating our kitchen from noon till 5:00pm, on Saturdays and Sundays, once riding begins in this area. Cooks on Friday nights from 6 to 9 are still being done with our members and we need volunteers to fill the remaining spots at this time. A sign up list is available at the clubhouse or call Marty at 989-3487 to see when you can help. Friday nights are always a lot of fun and a good chance to plan a ride for the weekend.
As snow continues to fall (oh so slowly) we will be riding locally soon. Please use caution on that first ride or two, there are several reroutes in our system this season. Two places that need particular attention are Rt. 9 near the Eddington Town Hall and in the Davis Road area.
Our New Year’s Eve Dance was a big success again this year. Our patrons welcomed in 2006 in fine style and our VP “DJ Dain” had the dance floor filled all night. We made over $400.00 on the dance and over $60.00 was raised for the Pine Tree Camp on a 50/50 raffle.
Our next big event will be our second annual EMSC/Walmart Charity Ride on February 11th, to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. The ride will be leaving the Walmart parking lot at 8am and leaving our clubhouse at 8:30. Registration is $20.00 per person and we will be having a meal and door prizes at our club after the ride. Come join the fun and help us raise money for this very worthy cause.
There are still a few 300 Club tickets available if you or someone you know would like one. Contact Brent at 989-7762 or see him this Sunday at the club for more info. You could be a lucky winner!
