October 2004 Club News
Hello everyone,
It continues to amaze me how a couple of cool nights can make such a change in the appearance of our surroundings and turn our thoughts from summer to the upcoming winter and snowmobiling.
October 17th will be our Annual Landowner Recognition night, with a roast pork supper at 6:00pm followed by a business meeting at 7:00. This is a great opportunity for us to express our appreciation to these fine folks for their continuing generosity in allowing our trail system to cross their property. Please be sure to attend and say thanks to all of them.
A big thank you to Jan, Troy, and Troy’s buddy Dan (aka Hollywood), for their quick response when a spot became available at the MSA Show to sell Super Raffle tickets. Through their combined efforts we sold 349 tickets in just three hours! If you have a time that you can help sell Super Raffle tickets either at Marden’s or the Bangor Mall, or need tickets to sell please contact Lew Tourtillotte at 989-7019.
We will be hosting a Halloween Dance on Saturday October 23rd from 8:30-1 at the clubhouse. Costumes are optional and admission is $20.00 per couple. Punch, ice and party favors will be available. “DJ Dain” will be providing the music and entertainment. So invite your friends and come join the fun. We are also looking for a few volunteers to help decorate on Thursday evening October 21st.
Jamie Madore is heading this season’s 300 club drawing. If you have sold tickets in the past, want to keep your same number, or want to get on a waiting list for a ticket, you can contact Jamie at 989-6768. She reminds everyone that tickets must be paid for in order to be eligible for the monthly drawing.
Trail workdays began October 10th. If you would like to help on these days, bring gloves, rugged boots, and safety glasses with you to the clubhouse any Sunday at 8:00am. The club will supply any tools and other safety equipment necessary for that day. Also if you know of any landowner changes or activities (construction, wood harvesting, etc.) that may affect our trail system, please contact our Trailmaster Larry Lafland at 989-6472 with that information so arrangements can be made to insure our passage in that area this season. Remember, “many hands make light work”, so let’s all do our part.
Our Hunter’s Breakfast will be held on November 6th from 4:30-8:30am at the clubhouse. Help is needed the night before getting ready and the day of cleaning up.
This year’s Club Trip will be February 18th & 19th to the Four Seasons in Ashland. If you wish to attend please contact Troy at 843-6179. A deposit will be needed by our November meeting.
Something new we are trying this year is a Craft Fair to benefit the club. Tables are available for $25.00 each and the event is to be held on November 20th from 9:00 –5:00,so spread the word! For more information you can contact Jamie at 989-6768.
Jamie is also our hospitality person this year. If you know of a member who could use a card for whatever reason, please let Jamie know.
We would like to welcome new members; Frederick & Serita Brown of Sedgwick, Dave & Carrie Johnson of Eddington, David & Connie Tourtillotte of Orrington, Jennifer Amdor of Bangor, Andrew Emery of Holden, Adam Eldridge of Brewer, Leroy & Letitia Jordan of Hancock, and new business member Friend & Friend-Orono of Orono. WELCOME ALL!
Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership, this will be your last club newsletter and your Maine Snowmobiler will end with the October issue. So what are you waiting for? We will be riding sooner than you think!
