October 2005 Club News
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know how to build an Ark? If this was just a rainstorm, I'm sure glad we didn't get a hurricane! Can you imagine if it had been SNOW!!!
These are just a few of the comments I've heard this week describing the weekend
rainfall. I also have a few of my own, but I'll save them for another time…
* October 16th will be our Annual Landowner Recognition night, with a roast pork supper at 6:00pm followed by a business meeting at 7:00. This is a great opportunity for us to express our appreciation to these fine folks for their continuing generosity in allowing our trail system to cross their property.
Please be sure to attend and join in expressing our gratitude.
* Thanks to Lew & Dave Tourtillotte, Brad & Sis Rice and Tom, Stacey, Whitney, Ryan & Ted Seymour for helping us sell Super Raffle Tickets at the MSA Show this past weekend in Augusta. Through their combined efforts we sold 333 tickets on Friday night. If you have a time that you can help us sell Super Raffle tickets at Brewer Walmart on October 29th or Marden's on November 27th or December 4th, or if you need tickets to sell please contact Lew Tourtillotte at 989-7019. All money raised from tickets sales goes for improvements to our clubhouse.
* Brent Spaulding is heading this season's 300 club drawing. If you have sold tickets in the past, want to keep your same number, or want to get on a waiting list for an available ticket, you can contact Brent at 989-7762. He reminds everyone that tickets must be paid for in order to be eligible for the monthly drawing, which begins in November.
* Trail workdays began October 2nd. If you would like to help on these days, bring gloves and rugged boots with you to the clubhouse any Sunday at 8:00am, (with work usually complete by noon). The club will supply any tools and other safety equipment necessary for that day. Also if you know of any landowner changes or activities (construction, wood harvesting, etc.) that may affect our trail system, please contact our Trailmaster Larry Lafland at 843-7813 with that information so arrangements can be made to insure our passage in that area this season. Remember, "many hands make light work", so let's all do our part in having the trails ready when snow arrives.
* Our Annual Hunter's Breakfast will be held on November 12th from 4:30-8:30am at the clubhouse. Note: This is one week later than is listed on our schedule. Help is needed the night before getting ready and that day cleaning up.
Call Eileen at 843-7813 to see how you can help.
* This year's Club Trip will be February 17th & 18th to the Boss Motel in Jackman. If you wish to attend please contact Eric Petley at 843-7970.
* We would like to welcome our new members; Lenny Williams and Dwayne & Jean Rideout of Brewer, Darren & Denise Vittum and Stephen & Joanne Garrison of Eddington, Michael Roy of Bangor, Oren Anderson of Dedham, Ed Hegarty of Trenton and Brian & Becky Murphy of Franklin. WELCOME ALL!
* Remember, if you have not yet renewed your membership, this will be your last club newsletter and your Maine Snowmobiler ended with the October issue.
So what are you waiting for? We will be riding sooner than you think!
