October 2006 Club News

Hello Everyone!

First of all, WELCOME to the new members:  Chris Luce of Holden, Robert Dorr of Holden, Greg Bemis of Holden, Harold Miller of Eddington, Jonathan and Sherri Cross of Brewer,  David Tourtillotte of Orrington and Larry Gass of Holden.  Remember if you have not renewed your membership, please contact Marty (989-3487) – we’ll be riding before you know it!!!!

Please don’t forget that the Landowner Recognition dinner is Sunday, October 15th with a roast pork dinner at 6:00 and the club meeting following at 7:00.  If you are planning to attend the dinner, please contact Eileen or Larry (843-7813) on or before Friday, October 13th to ensure that there is enough food or to see if there is anything you can do to help.  This is a great opportunity to express our gratitude to all our landowners for allowing our trail system to cross their property.  Most importantly, please remember to respect our landowners’ property.

Trail workdays began on Sunday, October 1st and will continue every Sunday from 8:00 to noon.  If you want to help, please contact our Trail Master, Larry Lafland if you have questions or have information about changes that have occurred on our trail system.

Super Raffle sales to date have been very impressive, with sales of over 300 tickets on Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24th.  Thanks to Eric Petley, Barry Woodard, Steve and Joanne Garrison, Lew and Dave Tourtillotte and Roger Wood for volunteering their time that weekend.  The following dates are set aside for ticket sales at Marden’s - October 22, November 26, and December

2&3 .  All money raised from ticket sales goes towards improvements to our club house.  We appreciate any help during the ticket sales, so please contact Lew (989-7019) if you would like to work a shift or two, or if you would like tickets to sell on your own.

Our Annual Hunter’s Breakfast will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., which is organized by Larry and Eileen Lafland.  They would appreciate any help on Friday night and on Saturday.  Please contact them and find out how you can help.

Judy Butler has worked very hard organizing an EMSC Craft Fair, which is scheduled on Saturday, November 18th, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Crafters from around the area will display their handmade items for purchase and I hear that there will be entertainment.  Mark your calendars!  Again, volunteers are needed to help – so contact Judy at 989-6545 to find out what you can do to help.

This year’s weekend club trip will be February 16th & 17th to Jackman.  Eric Petley has reserved 12 rooms at the Boss Motel.  If you would like to know more about the trip or to reserve a room, contact Eric very soon because these rooms book up fast!  Remember, there will be snow!!

As I mentioned earlier, the Club meeting is Sunday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m.  A major topic of discussion will be renovations to our club house.  Discussions have occurred over the summer and several options have been proposed, which will be explained in detail at this meeting. Your input is very valuable, so please plan on attending this very important meeting.

Lastly, club meetings have resumed for the season and volunteers for cooking club suppers are needed.  A sign-up sheet will be available at the meeting on Sunday.

See you Sunday!
