September 2004 Club News

 

     WOW! September already, where did the summer go, or did we even have one? The cool evenings lately remind us of what is soon to come…Snowtime!

 

     We will be kicking off our 34th season on September 26th with our Open House and Chicken Barbeque. Please note: this is the 4th Sunday of the month, so those of you who do, (and there are many) can attend the New Hampshire NASCAR race the weekend before. As in the past the meal will be free to those who pay their membership dues on or before that day and there is a free membership to the person who signs up the most new members that day. So, start reminding people you know who have said they would like to join and never did, now is the time. You could be a member for free!

 

     Did you know we now have our own website? Take a look at www.easternmainesnowmobilers.com and to give credit where credit is due, a big "Thank you" to Mark White of Hermon for all his help and expertise in the creation of the site. Thanks Mark!

 

     The winner of the canoe from our raffle drawing in April was Nancy Chandler from Presque Isle and was sold by Mike & Janet Nelligan. The club made $987.00 from that raffle. Thank you to all that participated in this very successful fundraiser.

 

     Our yard sale held on May 22nd was also a great success, adding $934.00 to our checkbook. Thank you to: Jim & Marty White, Mike & Janet Nelligan, Bonnie Longstreet, Kitty Cotton, Robbie Maquillan, Lew Tourtillotte, Alan Perkins, Allan Luetjen, and all those who donated items. And, a special thanks to Jamie Madore for the idea and a tremendous amount of time and work in organizing and promoting the event.  We already have a date set for next spring, so keep your club in mind when cleaning house this year.

 

     Congratulations to Robbie Maquillan for being named Eastern Maine Snowmobilers Outstanding Member for the 2003-04 season.  While Robbie is a relatively new member, his devotion and involvement in our club is hard to overlook.

Thanks for all you do Robbie, and congratulations!

 

     Thanks go to Jim Ring for finding time in his busy schedule to conduct the annual audit of our books. Thanks Jim!

 

     Trail days will be beginning soon. Contact Larry at 989-6472 to learn how you can help do your part in making our trail system the best it has ever been.

 

     MSA Super Raffle Tickets: Tickets are available NOW. If you need tickets to sell or have a business you have left tickets with before, contact Lew @ 989-7019 or Marty @ 989-3487. We are also in need of volunteers to sell tickets at the Bangor Mall and Mardens. Contact Lew for more information.

 

     Our Halloween Dance is scheduled for October 23rd from 8:30-1pm. It's not too early to start planning for this event…tell your friends!
