Eastern Maine Snowmobilers, Inc.

September 2004 MSA Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

Those of you who are regular visitors to our club news may notice a slight change in our column. After fifteen years of dedicated service, Eileen Lafland has passed on her pen. When Eileen first joined our club and MSA she was quick to notice we were not contributing to the club news in The Maine Snowmobiler. That would soon change and she has been writing for us ever since, not missing a single issue that I recall. We at the Eastern Maine Snowmobilers would like to thank Eileen for those many years of dedicated service to our club and wish her the best in her endeavors in the future. THANK YOU EILEEN!

We like many other clubs are looking forward to the upcoming season and preparing ourselves for that first snow. Our new President Marty White, VP Troy Grass and returning Treasurer Jamie Madore are anxiously waiting for the season to begin. The first big event is our annual Open House and membership drive scheduled for September 26th complete with a chicken barbeque and local dealers displaying their new sleds at our clubhouse. Following the meal we will hold our first meeting of the season at 7pm. In October we recognize and thank our landowners for their generosity and also host a Halloween Dance. In November we put on a Hunter’s Breakfast, December a Christmas Party and New Year’s Eve dance. January is the month for our IF&W Trail Safety Check and in February we take a club trip to some part of the State. The list goes on and there are always spontaneous events and activities shared with our neighboring clubs.

Last spring we held a canoe raffle and a yard sale, both of which were a great success and helped us replenish funds after a below normal snowfall in our area this past season.

Our clubhouse is open January thru March, Friday nights and Saturday & Sunday afternoons. We have a kitchen open for light lunches, coffee and always some of Bonnie’s (to die for) home cooked desserts. So when you’re in the area, stop by and say “Hi”. We are at 263 Levenseller Road in Holden. For more information call the clubhouse at 989-2788 or by mail at PO Box 226 Brewer, ME 04412.

 That’s all for now.

Jim White,

Secretary
