December 2008 Newsletter

Happy Holidays,

Welcome to our newest EMSC members and businesses: John Bryant & Stacey Fischel from Holden; Craig Rand from BrewerTroy Grass from Eddington; and Dave Rubey from Mariaville; Dana & Lynne Macewen - Downeast Sheet Metal, Bucksport; Patrick & Stacey Van Dyne – Hooked Forever, Orrington; and Leonard Williams – Williams Construction, Brewer.

On the back of this newsletter I’ve listed the business members who are supporting us. So let’s show our support for them as members and patronize their businesses whenever possible. You might notice some of the businesses are directly related to our passion – snowmobiling.

Our next meeting is Sunday, December 21^st, 7:00 p.m. Brad & Sis and Danielle & Jason will be cooking a ham dinner this evening with potatoes, vegetable and dessert, which will be ready at 6:00. Our Christmas party follows with a Yankee Swap. If you’d like to join in the fun bring a unisex gift, wrapped ($10.00 value). If you have children, please bring a gift for them with their name on it.

The Hunters’ Breakfast was another successful fundraiser this year. Although the Eddington Salmon Club’s Hunters’ Breakfast was the same day this year, a total of 126 breakfasts were served. Thanks to all that helped Larry and Eileen organize this event.

The EMSC Annual Craft Fair was another fundraiser that was held in November. Although the number of tables sold was down from last year, the crafters were pleased with their profits. Thanks to Sis Rice and Danielle Littlefield for their time spent recruiting crafters and to Sis for her time spent working in the kitchen.

Congratulations to the winners of the first 300 club drawing of the season: $500 Denise Platt; $200 Janet Nelligan; $100 Tom Applebee; $50 Carolyn Trundy; $50 Pam Sewitsky; $50 Laurie Maybrock; and $50 Dick Crawford. Tickets are still available. If you’d like to try your luck and purchase a ticket(s), contact Brent Spaulding at 989-7762.

The club trip will be in Houlton this year February 13 and 14. Twelve rooms have been blocked at the Shiretown at a rate of $72.00 per night. You may book your room by calling the Shiretown at 1-800-441-9421 and tell them you are with the Eastern Maine Snowmobile Club. There is a pool and bar on the premises and also a variety of restaurants close by as well as gas for sleds. The trail leaves from the rear of the motel. This should be a good weekend as always. Call soon to book a room.

Dates to remember:

· December 31^st: New Year’s Eve Dance (8:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.). $20.00 per couple or $10.00 per person. There will be ice and light snacks. Volunteers are needed to help set up that afternoon.

· January 2^nd: CLUB HOUSE OPENS FOR THE SEASON! A sign-up sheet will be posted at the club for volunteer cooks.
