February 2009 Newsletter

 

Hello all,

Our next meeting is Sunday, February 22nd.  The evening begins with a Pot Luck at 6:00 with the meeting following at 7:00.  Keep in mind that the club house is open Friday nights for dinner, snow or no snow.  Dain, Steve and I will be cooking Friday, February 20th.

The December and January meetings were sparsely attended because of snow storms.  We’d like your opinion:  Should the meetings be canceled in the event of a snow storm?   If the meetings are canceled what is the best way to contact you?  Please send along your opinions either by e-mailing me at catrider550@roadunner.com or at the February meeting.  No one is complaining about the amount of snow this year – riding has been terrific!  The Clewley Farm Restaurant sent a personal “thank you” for grooming right to their front door.  Their Sunday breakfast buffet is the best!  They are located off the powerline in Eddington off trail 107N.  The Eddington Store, which is located on 107N is open if you need fuel, snacks, etc. 

 

I can attest to the fact that our local trails have been awesome!  Thank you to Larry and the volunteers who have spent countless hours grooming our trails to ensure the best sledding.  The club house has been very busy every weekend.  Bob and Ardene Heistand have been our weekend cooks and have done a wonderful job – thanks to you both! 

 

The Progressive Ride last weekend was a huge success with almost 30 members participating.  We started at Brad and Sis’ for coffee and muffins and then to our house for pizza and dessert.  Fun was had by all!    

 

Dates to remember:

  • March 7:  Hot dog roast at Brad & Sis Rice’s house starting at 4:00 PM.  Hopefully the trails will still be good enough to go by sled.  If you need directions to their house, contact Brad or Sis at 989-5521. 

  • March 14:  Weather and trail conditions permitting – ride to the Airline Snack Bar.  Meet at our house by 8:00 AM.  For directions contact either Steve or me at 843-0749. 

  • March 15:  Board of Directors’ meeting at 5:00; Pot Luck dinner at 6:00; club meeting at 7:00.

  • March 27:  Club house closes for the season.  L  Volunteers will be needed to “spring clean” prior to the hall rental season.
