March 2009
Hello
and HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY,
Our
next meeting is Sunday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m. with a Pot Luck supper
starting at 6:00. Wally Fenlason is
heading up this year’s Nominating Committee and will present their slate at the
Annual Meeting on April 19th.
WELCOME to
the newest members: Barbara Tennent from Holden; John Tweedie from
Sad
to say, but the club house will be closing for the season on March
27th, this being our last Friday night supper. Spring clean up is scheduled on Saturday,
March 28th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The more hands we have, the quicker we can finish
and prepare the club for the upcoming rental season, which begins April 1st.
Many, many thanks to Ardene
and Bob Heistand for cooking on the weekends and to the volunteers who cooked
Friday nights. Overall, we’ve had
a very successful season.
Although
the season is coming to a close I believe that this year has been top notch for
our sport. Mother Nature was very good
to us. However, we have had some rain in
the mix which made some areas icy, so please be careful. Larry extends his gratitude to those who have
groomed the trails this year.
Some
fundraising is going on – Ardene Hesitand has donated a travel package which
includes a 3-day,
2-night stay at a selected hotel. Tickets are $1.00 and the lucky winner will
be announced at the April meeting. This
is a great deal if you’re planning a vacation in the near future. There are many hotels to choose from. Ardene has more details and can be contacted
at 843-0212. Tickets will be available
at the club house right up until the drawing.
As
you may remember in the last newsletter members were polled about whether club
meetings should be canceled during snow storms.
The majority felt that members should use their judgment.
Congratulations to the February
300 Club winners:
$500 – Katie Black; $200 – Karen Burns;
$100 – Lorna Young; $50 –
Marshall Strout; $50 – Mike Nelligan; $50 – Kelli Kimball; and $50 – Dick
Crawford.
Lew Tourtillotte has graciously offered
to continue the 300 Club while Brent is recuperating. There are 27 tickets left unsold – so if
you’re interested in purchasing a ticket for the upcoming drawings contact Lew
at 989-7019. There are 2 more drawings
left this season and who knows you might be that lucky winner.
Rental
season is upon us and I want to remind you that if you’re planning an event or
know of someone who needs a place to hold their event, contact me. A calendar is available on our web site
showing availability. Our rates did
increase some this year, $300.00 for non-members and $150.00 for members for
weekend rentals. This is the first
price increase in many years. I’ve had
several bookings so far, so don’t wait.
Call me at 843-0749 or e-mail catrider550@roadrunner.com.
Some of the feedback that I’ve received
is that the EMSC is the best place to rent because you don’t have to be in out
in one day. I want to thank the members
who have referred people to me for rentals.
See
you soon!
