Eastern Maine Snowmobile Club

September 2008 Newsletter

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all have enjoyed the summer.  The chilly evenings are here and now it’s time to plan for the upcoming snowmobile season.

The Annual Eastern Maine Snowmobile Club Open House is on Sunday, September 21st from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the club.  Danielle Littlefield, our Membership Chairperson, will be there to renew your membership.  With your paid membership, you will receive a free BBQ.  There will also be the newest models of snowmobiles, snowmobile trailers from Gillies Truck Caps and I believe a few other vendors and business owners will be on sight.  At 6:00 p.m. the general membership meeting will begin.  So come, rain or shine, and visit with old and new friends and enjoy the afternoon.  Tom Seymour is cooking again this year and I can guarantee that you’ll have enough to eat and enjoy every bite.

Super Raffle tickets are available and will be given to each member to sell again this year.  We were extremely successful last year as we ended up as top seller.  A big THANK YOU goes out to each and every member for your efforts in selling tickets.  Tickets are $2.00 each or six for $10.00.

Brent Spaulding will be selling 300 Club tickets as well at the Open House.  This is another successful fundraiser and you also have the opportunity to win $500, $100, or $50 at each club meeting throughout the season.

Trail work begins Sunday, September 28th, 8:00 a.m.  As always, there is a lot of work to be done and it would be great if a bunch of people could come out and help to get the trail maintenance done quickly.  Contact Larry at 843-7813 if you have any questions or if you are willing to work on a trail near your home.  Your help is desperately needed!

The MSA show at the Augusta Civic Center will be October 3rd, 4th and 5th.   This year there are 3 separate grand prizes:  a 2009 Ski-doo GSX snowmobile, $5,000 in cash and a snowmobile trailer (I’m not sure of the details of the trailer, but I am sure it’s one of the best made).

Mark your calendars for the Landowner’s Recognition Dinner on October 19th at 6:00 p.m.  This is an opportunity to thank all the landowners for allowing us to use their property to get from one trail system to the other.

The Annual Hunter’s Breakfast, which is always a success, is Saturday, November 8th.

Sis Rice and Danielle Littlefield are organizing the Annual EMSC Craft Fair this year, which is another great fundraiser.  This will be held at the club house on Saturday, November 15th.  All Crafters are needed, if you aren’t crafty, and know of someone who is, contact Sis at 989-5521 or email PKCUDA1973@aol.com. The cost of a table is $25.00.

Although I have listed a few of the upcoming events in this newsletter, a copy of the 2008/2009 Schedule of Events is enclosed.  You will be reminded of upcoming events in newsletters.

Come and enjoy yourselves at the Open House, bring a friend and get them signed up too.

See you soon!
